THE AMIDAH

Prayer.. how do we pray?   After reading this prayer I felt so convicted.   It is a traditional jewish prayer.   While I haven't memorized it or actually used it as a prayer often it taught me much on how to approach YHWH.

Do we simply ask him for things?  Do we approach him as if he is our slave?  Do we approach him with irreverence?  what do we do when we approach the most high?

Let's not get so wrapped up in what we want or "need" that we forget to praise him, thank him, and praise him for the amazing I AM that he truly is.

When was the last time we fell on our face (and I mean it.. fell on our FACE) and truly praised him?

I love this prayer.  The first time I read it I got chills.  May it touch your life and teach you something as well.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yahweh, Adonai, open my lips that my mouth may declare your praise.

Blessed are You, Yahweh my Elohim, and Elohim of my forefathers, Elohim of Avraham, Elohim of Yitzchak, Elohim of Ya’acov. The great and mighty, awesome Elohim, the supreme, Elohim, who bestows beneficial kindness and creates everything, Who recalls the kindness of the Patriarchs and has brought a Redeemer to their children’s children, for His name’s sake, with love. O King, Helper, Savior, and Shield. Blessed are You, Yahweh, the shield of Avraham.

You are eternally mighty my adoni, the resurrector of the dead; you are abundantly able to save. You sustain the living with kindness, resurrect the dead with abundant mercy, support the fallen, heal the sick, releases the confined, and maintains the faith of those who sleep in the dust. Who is like You O master of mighty deeds, who is comparable to You O king, Who caused death and restores life and makes salvation sprout. And you are faithful to resurrect the dead. Blessed are You, Yahweh who resurrects the dead.

We shall sanctify Your name in this world, just as they sanctify it in Heaven above. As it is written by your holy prophet, “And one angel shall call another and say: Holy, holy, holy is Yahweh T’zvaot, the whole world is filled with His glory.” Those facing them say, “Blessed, blessed is the glory of Yahweh from this place.” And in Your holy writings the following is written, “Yahweh shall reign forever, your Elohim O T’zion from generation to generation. HalleluYah!” And from generation to generation we shall relate your greatness and for infinite eternities we shall proclaim Your holiness. Your praise O Yahweh shall not leave our mouth forever and ever. For You, O Elohim, are a great and Holy King. You are holy and Your name is holy, and everyday holy ones will praise you forever. Blessed are You, Yahweh, the holy Elohim.

You graciously endow man with wisdom and teach insight to frail mortal. So endow us graciously from Yourself with wisdom, insight, and discernment. Blessed are You, Yahweh, gracious giver of wisdom.

Bring us back, our Father, to Your torah, and draw us near our King to your service, and influence us to return in perfect repentance before You. Blessed are You, Yahweh, who desires repentance.

Forgive us, our Father, for we have sinned; pardon us our, our King, for we have willfully sinned; for You pardon and forgive. Blessed are You, Yahweh, the gracious one who pardons abundantly.

Behold our affliction, take up our grievance and redeem us speedily for Your name’s sake with love. For You are a powerful Redeemer. Blessed are You, Yahweh, the Redeemer of Isra’el.

Heal us, Yahweh, and we will be healed, save us and we will be saved, for you are our praise. Bring complete recovery for all our ailments, and may it be Your will, Yahweh, my Elohim, and Elohim of my forefathers, that You quickly send a complete recovery from heaven above, spiritual and physical healing to the patients (name the sick) for they are among the patients of Isra’el. For You are Elohim, the faithful and compassionate Healer. Blessed are You, Yahweh, who heals the sick of His people Isra’el.

Bless on our behalf, O Yahweh our Elohim, this year and all its kinds of crops for the best, and give dew and rain for a blessing on the face of the earth. Satisfy us from Your bounty and bless our year like the best of years. Blessed are You, Yahweh, who blesses the years.

Sound the shofar for our freedom, raise the banner to gather our exiles and gather us together from the four corners of the earth. Blessed are You, Yahweh, who gathers in the dispersed of His people of Isra’el.

Restore our judges as in earliest times and our counselors as at first, and remove from us sorrow and groan. Reign over us, You, Yahweh alone with kindness and compassion. Justify us through judgment. Blessed are You, Yahweh, the King who loves righteousness and judgment.

And for slanderers let there be no hope and may all wickedness perish in an instant. And may all Your enemies be speedily cut down. May You speedily uproot, smash, cast down, and humble the sinners speedily in our days. Blessed are You, Yahweh, who breaks enemies and humbles sinners.

On the righteous and on the devout, on the elders of Your people the Family of Isra’el, on the remnant of their scholars, on the righteous converts and on ourselves, may Your compassion be aroused, Yahweh our Elohim, and give goodly reward to all who sincerely believe in Your Name. Put our lot with them forever, and we will not feel ashamed, for we trust in You. Blessed are You, Yahweh, mainstay and assurance of the righteous.

And to Yerushaliym, Your city, may You return in compassion, and may You rest within it, as You have spoken. May You rebuild it soon in our days as an eternal structure, and may You speedily establish the throne of Dawid within it. Blessed are You, Yahweh, the builder of Yerushaliym.

And the offspring of Your servant Dawid, may You speedily cause to flourish, and enhance His pride through Your salvation. For we hop in Your salvation all day long. Blessed are You, Yahweh, Who causes the pride of salvation to flourish.

Hear our voice, Yahweh our Elohim, pity and be compassionate to us. And accept with compassion and favor our prayer. For Elohim, who hears prayers and supplications are You. From before Yourself, our King, turn us not away empty-handed, for You hear the prayer of Your people Isra’el with compassion. Blessed are You, Yahweh, who hears prayer.

Be favorable, Yahweh our Elohim, toward Your people Isra’el and their prayer and restore the service to the Holy of Holies of Your Temple. The fire offerings of Isra’el and their prayers accept with love and favor, and may the service of Your people Isra’el always be favorable to You. May our eyes behold Your return to T’zion on compassion. Blessed are You Yahweh, Who restores His presence to T’zion.

We gratefully thank You, for it is You Who are Yahweh, our Elohim and the Elohim of our forefathers for all eternity. You are the Rock of our lives, the shield of our salvation are You from generation to generation. We shall thank You and relate Your praise – for our lives, which are committed to Your power and for our souls that are entrusted to You. For Your miracles that are with us every day and for Your wonders and favors in every season – evening, morning, and afternoon. The Blessed One, for Your compassions never ceases and Your kindness never ends. Always will we put our trust in You. For all these, may Your Name be blessed and exalted, our King continually forever and ever. Everything alive will gratefully acknowledge You, Selah! And everyone will praise Your Name sincerely, O Elohim of our salvation and help, Selah! Blessed are You, Yahweh, Your name is the Beneficent One and to You it is fitting to give praise.

Establish shalom, goodness, blessing, graciousness, kindness, and compassion upon us and upon all of Your people Isra’el. Bless us, our Father, all of us as one, with the light of Your countenance, for with the light of Your Torah of life and a love of kindness, righteousness, blessing, compassion, life and peace. And may it be good in Your eyes to bless Your people Isra’el, in every season and in every hour with Your shalom. Blessed are You, Yahweh, who blesses His people with shalom.

My Sunday morning..

So.. wake up, get dressed.. then it's breakfast time.

Leftover challah and homemade pineapple preserves.. Yum!

I love making challah.  It's such a gorgeous bread!  And who doesn't like having a few extra loaves of bread around the house?  Sure makes breakfast easy!
After Breakfast we moved on to school...  here's a picture of each girl doing their reading. :)

We also did some of our torah school, math, etc..
Then it's time for laundry.   Since I've received so many emails about how I do laundry without a machine.. be prepared for a ton of pictures (like that is unusual?) :)

First, we fill up one of the buckets with water,  grated soap (I use some homemade soap for mine), and the dirty clothes..

Then I use THIS to wash the clothes.  It works MUCH better and makes it easier than just doing it by hand..

After washing for a bit I let it soak in the water..

After it's soaked a for awhile I use the washer to wash them up a bit more and scrub the spots out of anything stained..

then I send them through the wringer to the other bucket which is filled with clean water (no soap) to rinse them out.

We then swish them around in the rinse water a few times..

Dump the dirty/ soapy water.. then send the rinsed clothes back through the wringer into an empty (no water) bucket..

Then, they get hung out to dry :)

Sometime in the morning (I think it was during the first soak) I made an apron.. :)

then I made a few worksheets and finished up this weeks torah school blog post..

http://torahschool.wordpress.com/2010/12/26/vaera-%D7%95%D7%90%D7%A8%D7%90-i-appeared/

Then washed a ton of dishes.  The sink is usually overflowing after the sabbath.

sliced up about a dozen bananas and 2 pineapples and put them in the dehydrator.. we've got a 4 day trip coming up and this will be good for snacks. :)

By that time.. the clothes were dry so we got them in..
 and folded them up..

And had a yummy lunch of raw milk, sliced cucumbers and tomatoes, leftover chicken salad, and leftover potato salad (which was gross.. totally horrible recipe)
and that's my morning.  :)  Wish I could say the afternoon was less busy but yeah.. it wasn't LOL.   The nice thing is we finish up around 6:00 so I've got a good break every night.

Preparing

Every Friday I think about this.   In many ways preparation day is as much of a picture of things as the Sabbath is.    We know Sabbath is a shadow of things still coming (Col 2:17)   What is preparation day a picture of?  To  me it's a perfect picture of where we are now.    Preparation day is all about labor.    It's about working extra hard to prepare for the Sabbath.

I usually cook Friday night's meal, as well as 3 meals for the next day.  I clean the house better than any other day of the week, I get EVERYTHING possible done.  Why?  I want the Sabbath to be set apart.  I want it to be restful.  I don't want to worry about the things that didn't get done.  I want to BE done on the sabbath so I can enjoy my rest.    That is where we are now in our walks isn't it?  We are laboring to enter into the Sabbath.  (Heb 4:11)   The sabbath being the millennial reign.     We've looked lately at the 2 resurrections,  the millennial reign, who will be there, etc..  We know there are 2 resurrections according to scripture.   In the first resurrection there are those who are obedient, who gave their life for the father, who did not worship in the beasts way (Rev 20: 4-6).    Which of us do not want to be a part of that?   To live in Yahshua's reign here in this earth?   I can't imagine anything more wonderful than living in Israel with him as my king, surrounded by other's who love his way!   The best part?   EVERYone will be keeping HIS law!  Keeping HIS sabbaths (Isa 66:23)   Keeping HIS feast days (Zec 14:16) and living for him.   that is our Sabbath rest!   But just like our preperation day now..  we must prepare, we must labor to enter into it.

It's amazing to me how things change!   Who needs Hellfire and Brimstone sermons?   So sad that folks think they need to be motivated to serve the Father out of fear of "Hell".    It's so much nicer to serve out of love.

So, every preparation day it brings to mind my preparations in life.. What I am preparing for... to spend a sabbath "day" with Yahshua here on earth. :)

Rainbows and Challah

The kids got gifts in from their Mawmaw and Pawpaw yesterday..   Rohan was asleep so no pictures of him :(

We were waiting for Jesse to finish at the post office when this rainbow showed up. :)   So pretty.

I just thought it was funny that they have the same paint store here that they did in Waco.

I love the cloud formations here!  (we were waiting on Jesse to finish at the lumber store.. this is a view of the town)

 another view of Tilaran

Views right outside of Tilaran on the way to a friends house

and... another rainbow!

Here's the other side.   This one was huge.

And.. I finally attempted the 6 braid Challah for Shabbat.  It turned out so pretty!  Here's the youtube video that I followed..  (here)

Today..

Outside my window...

Sunny and warm. :)  Palm trees blowing in the wind clear enough to see the mountains and the lake... lovely

I am thinking...

I need to get next week's torah school portion up today!

I am thankful for...

My life.   The kids are eating homemade french bread and preserves, the dog's laying by my feet asleep, and the husband's outside making me a laundry stand for the buckets and wringer :)

From the learning rooms...

Need to get the school stuff out and get started!  Maybe we can finish up by 2:00 :)

On my desk...

No real desk.. I'm using the kitchen countertop. :)   So, 2 bananas, a pineapple, esential oil diffuser, water bottle, and some drying dishes. :)

I am wearing...

Long denim skirt, blue and green tzitzits, blue t-shirt, and a blue and silver tichel

I am creating...

2 new aprons.  They are cut out ready to start.. just need to get an ironing board. :)   Made one yesterday without an ironing board and decided to not do that again LOL

I am going...

To town in a bit, drive around and see some scenery, and to a friends farm to pick up some milk.

I am hoping...

Jesse will be able to find the things on our list when he goes back to the states this week or next!   Hoping for a canner, some bowls, a large casserole dish, and a few other things.

I am hearing...

Kids being kids..  "1, 2, THREEEEEEEE" then jumping noises and giggles.

Around the house...

Rivka is being naughty and chewing on shoes, Rohan is crying (I think it has something to do with the just mentioned 1,2,3 and then jumping noises)

One of my favorite things...

cast iron!   I love having all my cast iron pans in again.

A picture I thought worth sharing:

goofy Lorien

Sweet Brianna

yeah.. still goofy Lorien

And.. the family minus the photographer Brianna :)

December 21, 2010

Tuesday..

Jocelyn got a tea together for us girls today.  :)  Really enjoyed the day. :)

Some of the guests..

After the tea we took Lorien to the dentist. :(   Poor thing was SO excited about going!   That ended VERY quickly.  I felt so sorry for her.  But glad to get the cavity filled.

While Lorien had her tooth fixed up Rohan, Brianna, and I played around in front of his office. :)   Brianna ended up wanting to play photographer as well for a few.   Jesse stayed in there with Lorien.   I know it's awful but I'm a wimp.  I almost passed out more than once when I took my cat to the vet once.  The last thing they need is a passed out mother in the dentist office.

We then got some groceries.. Lorien got to pick out a treat so she picked out strawberry milk for everyone.  (hey.. let's follow up a dentist trip with sugary drinks!  yay!.. sigh..)

Took a picture of the fruit and veggie stand.. from a distance.  Didn't feel like looking like the idiot tourist and bringing my camera in there.. I'll do that later. :)

We made a stop at a friends house on the way home.. poor man couldn't hold out though.

Some things here feel so similar to the States.. not a big culture difference at all..

And then other things...
